Turtle
Shayla found this little turtle in our garden. We let her keep him in her room for a few days. She named him Cokey. We have no idea where she comes up with her names ...

6 Months
As of yesterday, we've lived in Kansas for 6 months. It's gone by fast.

5th of July
Hays had the city fireworks the day after 4th of July so we drove up on a hill near town to see them. (Kansans really aren't as backward as it sounds, they had a concert on the night of the 4th and couldn't set up to do the fireworks.)

A Good Book
I just finished What the Bible Says About Healthy Living by Dr. Rex Russell. It is a great book that I highly recommend. This book, along with the Makers Diet have challenged me to look at my eating habits and I am even considering giving up my favorite meat - pork.
Russell explains the Old Testament law thoroughly and helped me understand it in light of New Testament living under the grace of Jesus. The information in the book is definitely worth considering.

4th of July
Last night we went to a party at one of Jeremiah's coworker's place. Shayla had so much fun getting sparklers at the fireworks stand and then lighting them. Kansas allows people much bigger fireworks than Colorado, so we enjoyed a pretty impressive fireworks display at the BBQ. Hays had a concert last night and so they aren't doing their display until tonight. Shayla is really looking forward to going to their fireworks tonight.
8 Months Old
Garrett turned 8 months old on Friday. Shayla took these pictures of him. She really enjoys taking pictures. Her favorite photo subjects are Garrett, her feet and the TV.
Garrett has been a a go-getter this past month. He climbs over, under or on top of anything he can. He tries to pull up on everything and can stand up in his crib. Just last week he discovered how to push the DVD player buttons. He is starting to eat a wide variety of foods too, but doesn't enjoy being spoon fed - he likes to feed himself. Toys with wheels are his favorites. He smiles and laughs a lot now too.
